What value do you add to society?
Recently, I’ve been reading some personal development blogs and marketing books to get a better idea of what I need to be doing with my internet career and well, my life. I have found some fascinating information that I’d like to pass on. So, it all starts with reading Shoemoney’s blog and listening to a podcast he did with author Seth Godin. They talked about marketing today and how different our society has become in the last 20 years. Seth has a book out called Purple Cow, which has truly opened my eyes to what we as marketers should be doing with our products and services. Listen to the podcast and buy the book. The book is amazing, but didn’t have what I needed. I need the product or service to sell. I have nothing!! No value at all to give/sell to the rest of the world. Once I find that, Seth’s advice will completely help me dominate my market, but until then, I’m dead in the water. So, truly frustrated with my life, I typed in Google, “I Don’t Know What To Do”, and got all kinds of results. I clicked on the first listing:

At first glance, I wasn’t impressed with the site. It slides to the left side of the screen(needs to be centered), and is really girly…, pink everywhere and all that. I started to read what was on the page and was slowly drawn into the story. I’m not going to go on about what the story is about, so go and check it for yourself. It’s good. Okay, I’ll give you a little bit.., it’s about a women who quit her “soul sucking” job to look for a better way to live life and to earn income. GalaDarling-the author of the site- gives her advice and some info on her background. Fascinating stuff. She gives you all kinds of great links to other wonderful treasure troves of information on personal issues as well as career advice. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it. I found someone who was giving great value away for free and she was doing something that made her feel alive and truly free from all the corporate, bureaucratic BS!
Next, I clicked on 10 reasons you should never get a job, and was blown away again on the info provided there. I truly think I’ve found my next step in my own career. I have found new energy within myself to pull myself off the floor and do something worthwhile…, to provide value to others. Please, if you’re struggling with what to do next, visit the links in this post. They will put you on a great path. Stay tuned to what I do next…

Great first post. I found your blog by chance. i thought “checkoutmyblog.com” would be a great site for a blog… found out it was taken. Anyway, I’m pretty early in my blogging career also. I got laid off two months ago and have vowed to come up with ideas on how not to get sucked back into corporate America again.
Anyway, here’s my blog if you’re interested:
